What a Gem

Stories for Jewelry Lovers

A Podcast

Jewelry is not just wearable art. Our jewelry can carry stories of love, life milestones, travels or artistic appreciation.

My jewelry brings me great joy. I’m continually learning about gemstones, designers, and styles of jewelry. I’m a novice with a quest for knowledge and the stories of other people’s jewelry journeys. I decided I’d share my exploration with other jewelry lovers by creating this podcast: What A Gem.

About Lois Melbourne

I am a jewelry collector. I only realized I was a collector when I started seeking jewelry with specific new-to-me gemstones and techniques. I’ve always loved jewelry and can map many of my global travels through the treasures in my jewelry box.

My mother taught me the appreciation of beauty in the little things. I’m fascinated by the jewelry craftsmen who bring together the engineering, science, and art of jewelry making. I enjoy exploring the stories and myths built around gemstones and their origins.

I have a full life with family, friends, my dogs, writing, community service, and travel. However, my lifelong learning quest brought me deeper into jewelry collecting. I decided the best way to follow this path is to pursue this knowledge with others. So, I’ve created this podcast, “What a Gem”.

p.s. if you came to the “About” for the classic details:

Mother to one brilliant son. Mothering others. (empty nester)

Married to a brilliant technical visionary.

Not your stereotypical Texan.

Former software entrepreneur – been there – done that – sold that.
